We are very excited to communicate with you the big changes God is bringing about in our lives. As of June 2, 2011 we ended our time on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ. It is with sadness and great excitement that we take this next step. Campus Crusade has been an incredible experience for us, both in ministry and relationships. We will miss both a lot!

This summer we are in the process of transitioning our family and ministry to Seattle, WA, the 2nd least reached city with the gospel in our nation. We have accepted a “pastor in residency” position for 2 years with Mars Hill Church.

Why are we making this transition?

Last October, after returning from sabbatical, God started to stir an unsettledness in our hearts in connection with our job. We began to pray, fast and seek God about our future. It became clear that we were becoming passionate about making disciples and planting churches. The years we have served as the director of the ministry at UF have helped to refine and shape this calling.

In the midst of this, God was setting up a divine meeting with Mars Hill pastors this past January 2011. After we had settled on our calling in ministry, we met Mars Hill. Their vision and the opportunity they have offered us sets us up to grow the depth of our ministry and the reach of our influence.

What will we be doing?

Simply put; spiritual, family, theological and ministry development.

A major part of our time in Seattle will be for the purpose of getting us “ready” to minister for a lifetime. We will be going through a stringent qualifying process as we prepare to pastor and plant churches. (for more on this part of the story please visit my blog post, The Journey Continues)

As a part of this preparation we will also serve on the staff of the Mars Hill University District campus in Seattle. This church is planted minutes away from the Univ. of Washington. Similar to Campus Crusade, our vision is to have a gospel presence in every nook and cranny on campus and in the U-district neighborhood.

All in all, we see this as a crucial move for the longevity and effectiveness of our ministry. We are thankful that God has provided us with this opportunity and excited to see what God does through our partnership with you in Seattle!
